9D WAMENA ( DANI ) – KOROWAI TOUR

Tour itinerary :

Day.1st : JAYAPURA – WAMENA (L,D).
Your morning arrival at Sentani airport of Jayapura from your Indonesia gateway, meet your guide and the luggage clearance then check in for your connecting flight to Wamena. Arrive Wamena direct excursion in Wamena visiting : traditional local market, Napua Hills for panorama, visit a smoked Mummy in the North baliem and dani villages, back to your hotel for check in dinner and overnight stay.

Day.2nd : DANI TREKKING (B,L,D).
Pre-down breakfast in your hotel then proceed by car transfer to the South Baliem of Kurima district starting trekking through the baliem river, picnic lunch will be provided on trekking, back to the car transfer to your hotel, dinner and overnight stay.

Day.3rd : WAMENA – DEKAI (B,L,D).
Breakfast in hotel, wait until transfer to the airport to catch flight departure to Dekai – lowland area where we can take a boat charter to Koroway, check in hotel in Dekai (simple accommodation), time available for guide report Surat Jalan (Travel Permit) to the police office in Dekai and shopping additional foodstuff for Koroway, Lunch and Dinner will be provided in food-stall or Warung in Dekai.

Day.4th : DEKAI – KOROWAI (B,L,D).
We have early breakfast, by car transfer to Lokpond harbour for about 45minutes to get a Motorized boat charter for about 7 – 8 hours of drive are to be expected, amazing virgin forest all way down through the brazza river up to the river mouth of sirets where we take a lunch break in the river band, then we continue our journey on upstream passing wild romantic open fluvial topography. The river sirets getting wilder and wilder with pebble banks and rapids. Mighty trees are spread over the water and at some spot mighty dams of driftwood block nearly the whole course of the river. To get though this smoothly requires enough day light and a well experience. We expect to reach our stage goal in mabul at 4 -5 o’clock for local time, Mabul is Koroway base here we can arrange porters for the next day trekking into the jungle. One night stay in local house or tent.

Day.5th : JUNGLE TREKKING (B,L,D).
Enjoy our breakfast prepared by our cook then meet all crew, our complete luggage and food for the following days will be partitioned to the porters then we leave Mabul by trekking to the interior to explore Koroway clandestine about 3-4 hours to reach the destination. Late afternoon we will meet the warm greet with Koroway people and open our tent in the shelter while cook prepare food for dinner. Walking around the village to experience the higher tree house near by and the pictures.

Day.6th : KOROWAY ACTIVITY (B,L,D).
Today we accompany day the Koroway family into the nearby sago trees ( the family of palm) there we experience a spectacle from another world the forest nomad fell a hug sago palm tree and smash the pith totally. Afterword the woman wash it in primitive washing ways or filtered process to separate flower and waste as for the basic food for jungle people. In the afternoon back to the tree house and in the evening our cook perform a real jungle dinner, maybe we have sago pancakes and plantain, every day the kitchen surprises us with different exotic jungle treats.

Day.7th : A COMPLETE KOROWAY ACTIVITY – MABUL (B,L,D).
Breakfast, time available to accompany Koroway woman into the jungle to see how their daily life style and activity such gathering food/vegetables, to see how Koroway woman catching fish and cooking by primitive ways and Koroway man searching sago worms and making a trap by traditional ways. Trekking back to Mabul for one night stay.

Day.8th : KOROWAY – DEKAI (B,L,D).
Breakfast, packing all luggage and equipment should be put into the boat, departure time today really depending on condition of river, sometimes the water in upper river sirets lower tide where we have to find another alternative to change smaller dugout canoe dropping us down to get more wider and high tide where our big boat waiting us, continue drive down through sirets river till the river mouth of brazza heading up to lokpond harbour where our car waiting us dropping to Hotel in dekai. We expect to reach hotel at 4 or 5 o’clock.

Day.9th : DEKAI – JAYAPURA (B,L).
Breakfast, wait until transfer to the airport for departure flight back to Jayapura, transfer to hotel for check in.

Day.10 : DEPARTURE. (B).
